Welcome to our Home Learning page. Throughout the year, you will find that we add to this page and also our Google Classroom. We will show our students how to make best use of this facility to find revision materials and also guides to help them get the best out of revision. Effective revision is crucial to students’ success in their assessments, PPEs and final exams. At King Arthur’s we ensure that all students are provided with revision materials to support them and are clear about how, what and when they should revise. Revision materials for each subject are shared with students through the Google Classroom and teachers guide students in what topics and knowledge to revise. Teachers will often set Home learnings which are revision tasks to support students appropriately in the preparation for their assessments.
However, students are responsible for their own revision and should actively seek to understand what their areas of weakness or development are in order to be able to revise effectively. Students have access and subscription to a range of revision platforms that we encourage them to use. Sometimes students will be set specific tasks on these platforms, but they are also free to access any of the materials, at any time.

We also ask students to subscribe to AdaptApp, a revision timetabling app which intelligent devises a revision timetable for students tailored to their specific subjects and exam boards, and to their personal circumstances, such as whether they have a part time job or hobby.

Parents can support their children with revision by ensuring they have a quiet space to work in, and access to any materials they might need, such as folders, flashcards and highlighters/colours.
Regular check ins to see how their revision is going are important and using your child’s revision materials to quiz them is a very effective way of helping students to retain knowledge. Ask WHAT they have done, not just IF they have revised! Encourage them to use effective methods not, just re-reading or highlighting texts and ensure that they stick to their AdaptApp revision timetable.
Look after your child’s well being as well – make sure they eat and sleep well, take regular breaks, exercise and have fun.
Make they don’t try to ‘cram’. Starting early and revising little and often has the best results.
In Years 10 and 11 we hold a Revision Evening for parents and students to give advice and guidance on the best ways to support children in revising for their GCSEs and vocational qualifications. It is important that you attend this event to understand how best to support your child.
