Pastoral Support

King Arthur’s School prides itself on the quality of its pastoral care, which helps all students to remain engaged and motivated to learn. At King Arthur’s, we believe that every child matters and should feel valued as part of our community. Young people need to feel safe and secure to thrive academically and socially, and our pastoral team works hard to ensure that this is the case and to help students and their families deal with problems if they arise.

Pastoral Team

Claire Pattemore: Associate Assistant Head for Behaviour & Attitudes; Head of Year 10

This Pastoral lead role is to focus on progress and learning. They will also deal with attendance, behaviour and welfare issues. This role is supported by a team of Tutors who have regular daily contact with pupils during morning and afternoon tutor time. Along with specialist staff they deliver Personal, Social, Health, Relationships, and Sex Education (PSHRSE). Careers education is delivered through tutor time and across our whole school curriculum, with additional special events supported by our Careers team. PSHRSE helps a student to understand the world around them through the strands of: Health and Wellbeing, Relationships and Living in the Wider World. The Tutor is the first point of contact for Parents/Carers who have a concern about their child. The pastoral team is also supported by three non-teaching members of staff who ensure students can focus on learning. Mrs Legg, Mrs Knight and Mrs Gale are available throughout the school day.
