Welcome to Dance
Key Stage 4 GCSE
The option groups study the AQA GCSE Dance course. This course focuses on practical work, developing performance and choreographic skills which supports progression to further study of the Creative Arts. There is also a theoretical component that develop appreciation for own and professional dance.
This involves 3 components
- Students perform set phrases as a solo
- Students perform as a duo/trio a development of the set phrases
- Students create a solo or a group piece based on an externally set stimulus
Dance Appreciation (40%)
- 1 hour 30 minute written exam where students must critically analyse, interpret and evaluate their own work in performance and choreography. The second part of the exam requires students to demonstrate their understanding of professional dances.
