Music Trip to Germany
On Friday 22nd October 40 King Arthur’s students and 20 Sexey’s students embarked on a long trek to the Rhine in Germany. They were all musicians off on their music tour to give two concerts and visit some of Germany’s tourist attractions.
The two schools first worked together on their Paris tour of 2008. All the students worked well together to perform some great pieces of music including “Star Wars”, a waltz by Strauss and the well known “Wonderful World”. There were some high quality solo’s given by the Sexey’s GCSE Music students as well as lovely performance given by the King Arthur’s String Quartet and Folk Group.
During their stay in Germany the students visited Beethoven’s house in Bonn, the Fantasialand theme park and Wincanton’s twin town of Lahnau, where as well as giving the concert the students were taught to play Handball by the German pupils. Everyone arrived back safely in Wincanton on 27th October. It was a really successful trip and it is hoped that the German students from Lahnau will be able to make a return visit in the summer next year.
