Dear Parents
Picture resources are a major source of inspiration for our students.
Do you, or relatives/friends, have any colour Sunday supplement magazines or similar that we could use as picture resource material in the art department?
Could you start saving, or get others to save, such magazines for us to use on a regular basis? We would be very grateful of any contributions made.
We are also on the lookout for still life objects with interesting patterns, shapes, reflections, and textures for the students to study as part of their courses. Broken or rusted objects are often more attractive to study than new objects.
Do you have anything stored away in the loft or garage that would be of use to us?
Here are just a few examples below:
-
tree bark
-
stainless steel kettles (for the distorted reflections)
-
animal skulls (must be clean)
-
drift wood
-
fossils/stones/pebbles/shells
-
mechanical parts – cogs, chains, nuts and bolts
-
patterned cloth
-
cut glass – decanters, wine glasses
-
mirrors
-
vegetables – pumpkin, marrow, seeds and pods
-
flowers (dried)
-
house plants
-
old artifacts made of brass or pewter
